Gardening for 15+ years, since I’ve had a house and yard. I had houseplants only before that. It’s tricky here, because water is such an issue. We’ve recently put in driplines though, and that is making the difference. I try to add plants that are drought-tolerant, but that give me lots of color. I have lots of salvias, a couple of beautiful desert penstemons and my ever-present irises. Our vegetable garden gets a little bigger every year, with serious help from inground drips and sprayers. My current favorite veggie plants are my fairytale eggplants, and my mexican fiesta cherry tomatoes. I’ve never been able to grow a butterfly bush—I’ve killed more than 5 trying over the years.
