New job has taken me away from everything while I adjust to the new schedule, but I had to document this beauty quickly this morning, I find these flowers simply amazing.

chrysanthemum clara? pink Blooming: after the snow
This opened up last week, right before I had to leave for a week. I was quite gratified to see that despite the snow, it still had flowers. This is one of my favorite mums, and I wish I knew for sure what sort it is. It just came up in the middle of a bunch of double hardy mums that I had set out one year in Delaware, and I moved it up here to Pa, because it is so hardy and pretty.

We had an unusually early snow…freaky nor’easter. Of course, I’ve been out of town the whole week, so missed it. Fortunately, it not only melted almost as fast as it fell, but I had dutifully put the most likely to be damaged potted plants out of harm’s way on the porch, expecting only frost.
I’m writing this on the 2nd of November, btw, after I got back.
While we didn’t have any stick here, the part of the Poconos Mountains I had to travel through got nearly 17 inches, the most in over one hundred years!

monkshood Blooming: blooming
These are a nice tall structural flower in the garden. Plus, they bloom a deep purple/blue in the fall, when so much else is yellow and orange. Unfortunately, they are extremely poisonous, so I didn’t keep them when I had small kids around.

Butterfly Weed Harvesting: up, up and away
This plant is setting seed. I’m not really harvesting, but that comes closest , as I will eventually collect one packet of seed.
