Potato Tire Harvesting: Failure
As you can see from the picture, that was all I got. 2 kinda large potatoes and 7 tiny ones. :( I’m thinking the soil I used had the wrong fertilizer combination and made it put all it’s energy into the leaves instead of the roots. That or I buried them too quickly or packed the soil too tightly. The two big ones were in the bottom tire and all the little ones were in the top tire and nothing in the two tires in between. I just about broke even and produced the same amount of potatoes as I started with. What a disappointment. I was so excited when I found all the little ones at the top. :(
They were still growing and sprouting new stalks and leaves this late in the season. They just wouldn’t stop growing. The funny thing is about a week or so ago, I gathered all the stems that were running down the sides into a pile on top and they started producing a bunch of little potato bulges inside the pile of leaves. I buried them in the corner of my garden. Maybe they’ll sprout next year.
I’ll definitely try it again next year. I’ll probably do two stacks. One stack of tires I’ll just fill with shredded leaves and the other stack I’ll fill with fresh compost from my new compost pile instead of the vegetable soil I bought for it this year.

Luffa Harvesting: 1st Luffa Harvest
The one on the left was perfectly mature and was easy to peel and get the seeds out of. The one on the right fell off too soon and is really slimy and I’m never going to get all the seeds out. Both are over a foot long! There’s still a few around this size that are still growing and a bunch of little ones. I hope they make it, since the weather is starting to get cold at night. I did so much better this year, last year I only got one! And it was only about 3 inches long! :)

Luffa Crawling over roof
It’s now running over the roof of my garage. I’m wondering if it will make it to the main roof on the other side. Looks like I’ll need a ladder to harvest them. :)

Lemon Bonsai Tree Flowering: Flower!
Not only has it grown lots of mostly healthy leaves, my poor tree has managed to sprout one lonely little flower. Smells great, hope it turns into a lemon.

Luffa Ants
Is it normal for ants to attract luffa? There are big brown and red ants all over my luffa. They’re especially attracted to the flowers and fruits.

Beans Harvesting: Another Bowl
Remembered to take a picture this time. This is the second bowl of green beans harvested. Also, there’s my first cucumber on top. There’s still a bunch of smaller beans on the plants, however there’s no new flowers. I hope they keep producing because these are the tastiest green beans I’ve ever had!
