Day 16 Apr07
Sloe 'Harvest Wonder N1' Sprouting: Still Going
I checked the stuff on the warmer tonight and this one is continuing to leaf out. Despite the fact that when I checked it under the soil, it had no roots. I moved the entire container of sloe cuttings to the warmer a couple nights ago with the hope that the temperature would help spur root development. I hope it’s not just the leaf spending its energy in one last burst.

Day 12 Apr03
Sloe 'Harvest Wonder N1' Sprouting: Hold Your Horses
I cautiously lifted the various sloe scions up out of the rooting medium and saw that, actually, none of them have rooted. But this one did sprout a bit from one of its buds. As far as I can tell, none of the outside grafts have taken yet. They may just have been too dried out. They didn’t arrive in great condition via mail.

Day 11 Apr02
Sloe 'Harvest Wonder N1' Breaking Dormancy: W00t!
Bringing this exclamation back to its – wait for it – roots, I exclaim that I have rooted some scionwood! Our Master Gardener class tonight was on propagation. It was really interesting and nowhere near detailed enough due to time constraints. Anyway, all the talk of rooting made me think of the scions I’d tried rooting rather than grafting. At least one of them is sprouting. I’ll consult my books a little more before deciding when it’s a good time to transfer them out to separate pots.
