Spidra's Terry Walton's Allotment garden
Terry Walton is the “Adopted Allotmenteer” of The Jeremy Vine Show on BBC Radio 2. I discovered him through a guest appearance on The Wiggly Wigglers Podcast. Now Terry has his own podcast – Welcome to Terry’s World.
Terry has been gardening in the same allotment garden for 50 years and has the accumulated knowledge to show for it. His methods and what he grows have evolved over the years, too. He went from being as enthusiastic a user of chemicals as anyone to now being an organic gardener who composts, vermicomposts, and uses bokashi.
Terry’s allotment is 10 perch, or 302.5 sq. yards, so he’s got a lot of room to grow things.
I like to keep track of what varieties Terry is growing in his allotment in Tonypandy, South Wales and I think Folia is a perfect way to do it!
You can catch Terry’s podcast via Wippet, or subscribe using iTunes, or hit his MySpace page: http://www.myspace.com/terrywalton Terry makes a guest appearance on The Jeremy Vine Show every other Friday. One week of shows are archived here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/vine/ Terry also appeared on Episodes 89, 101, and 107 of The Wiggly Wigglers Podcast, which you can find at: http://www.wigglywigglers.co.uk/podcasts
Terry also blogs at http://www.saga.co.uk/magazine/allotmentblog/ (Saga has changed its site so you can no longer access recent entries at this permanent URL. Just go to http://www.saga.co.uk and search for Terry Walton.)
note: Four of the photos in this profile were taken by Terry’s son Anthony Walton. They are used with permission. I do not know who took the picture of Terry for the Saga magazine blog but please don’t sue me – I link to your site! note-y note: The reason Terry is holding a cellphone to his ear in many of the pictures is because that is how he broadcasts to The Jeremy Vine Show – via cellphone.

Great idea! I love the fact that your keeping track of this garden for us, thereby introducing us to this wealth of experience! Thanks! I’ll definitely keep track of this, and I’ll start listening to his podcasts!

I recommend them highly. The Wiggly Wigglers Podcast is excellent as well although it’s not always about gardening. Terry made his first appearance on WW Podcast # 89. http://www.wigglywigglers.co.uk/podcasts/
