Dee's Allotment secret wildlife garden

Created on Thursday, 24 Apr 08

Im gradually clearing the back of my plot which at the mo has very dense vegetation. I think this was where previous Lottie tenants grew their fruit and it has now gone completely wild. My plans are to open it up a little and make it more manageable by cutting down the seedlings and bramble, put a path [slabs] down so I can get to the water pipe and try to clear some of the ivy which covers the ground and the two large plum trees in there. Ivy is a killer to remove so im not even going to try to remove it, just cut it back and plant some woodland, wildlife, friendly flowers in there. Ill leave some logs down also, along with a couple of bird boxed and ladybird /lacewing boxes. I have already found a small damson tree in amongst the bramble and I think theres another one – they will stay… Im also considering cobbling together a small pond using a smallish container sunk into the ground, im on the lookout for something suitable…
