Gardengirl's The Shade garden
Created on Wednesday, 30 Apr 08
This garden is located in the shade of an arborvitae hedge and two mature maple trees. Most of the garden is dry shade, although there are some slices of part sun. The Shade Garden is a young garden. The oldest plants are 4-year-old hostas. The rest of the plants have been added during the past three years, including an additional few hosta varieties. At last count there were seventeen varieties of hostas, and about eighty hostas total. The majority of the hostas are in this garden, although I do have some of them planted in other areas of the property. The Shade Garden occupies approximately one-fourth to one-third of our backyard.
