Clematis - Right box (shared) Dormant: Dormant - I hope
I’ve completely neglected this box. The problem is that the location is so sheltered that it gets very little rain. It’s also in a spot that I don’t often spend time in (unfortunately).
As long as I give it a weekly watering, the plant seems to be doing ok, but I fell out of the habit and it dried up. Now, the Virginia creeper has done the same and managed to revive itself each year, so perhaps I can bring it back. I’ll watch it closely in the spring, but for this season i am cutting my losses

Virginia Creeper - Right Box full of leaves!
The leaves are full and big all over the trellis.
It’s doing fantastic! I just keep watering the box each time it rains or whenever I need to add supplemental water to the others.

Clematis - Right box (shared) growth preferences
The Clematis has reached the top of the trellis and is branching out beautifully.
Interesting: It seems more eager to grow if it’s got something to hang on to.
If a stem was growing upwards, but hadn’t found anything to curl around, the growth would be slow.
But if i found something to let it hang on to, it would grab on and shoot out. This was useful to note with shorter stems that couldn’t quite reach the trellis and were taking to long to grow over to it. If it would latch it to another stem, it seemed to encourage it to grow without fear of falling over.
