Mondomuse's Herb garden
An herb garden? Well, sort of. What started out as a dedicated herb garden 16 years ago has evolved into more of a flower bed. This garden, with it’s two footpaths was originally a driveway for cars. Once in full sun, liquid amber trees now create partial sun for this area. While herbs are still present in this bed, I basically spread them throughout the backyard garden where they may be more useful. For example I grow rosemary and sage next to the BBQ area because I use these herbs often while barbecuing.
Featured plants include: Red lobelia ‘compliment’, catnip, centranthus rubar, thyme, sage, spearmint, rosemary, a huge lemon verbena, comfrey, tagetes, nemesia, several lavenders and a buddleia. The blue gazing ball is lit up at night by two solar spotlights. The last photo was taken at night with tiki torches and candles providing illumination.
This spring, I’ve added raspberry nemesia, columbine, delphinium, and pink yarrow. Thus far this summer I’ve added Mexican evening primrose, white yarrow, yellow cosmos and red salvia.
