Tiny assortment of pots on the steps I am SLOW.
Finally, an update!
The ginger is becoming gorgeous! Unfortunately, the oregano & mint are still scraggly, but they really do need a better, deeper pot. Ah, well. Meantime, we just today (september 26) got our first tiny bit of rain in Jerusalem! Hooray! After about 6 months without a drop, it felt wonderful to go outside and have raindrops on my arms & face. I think the herbs might do better as it cools down…

Tiny assortment of pots on the steps Itty-bitty compost...
Even though we usually survive on instant coffee at home (as do most Israelis!), a friend brought us a bag of REAL coffee… in addition to the pleasure of drinking it (after boiling it in a saucepan and straining it into a cup…), I’ve been bringing the grounds out to the plants and “mulching” it in around the plants, in a sad little attempt at “composting.” I’ve heard that there’s a community compost heap somewhere nearby, but haven’t found it yet…
