Mandarin Orange 'Owari Satsuma' Fruiting: It's Not the Size
As small as the Dancy tangerines, maybe even smaller, but it tastes so much better. The tree has always struggled. My friend who was plant sitting said she felt very sorry for it. It’s like the xmas tree in the Charlie Brown cartoon. Regardless, the fruit tastes much better than the healthier Dancy tangerine.

Tangerine 'Dancy' Fruiting: A Bit Disappointing
I got to taste the first of my Dancy tangerines this year. I wouldn’t mind the small size if it were packed with flavor but it was a bit mediocre.

Canary Bird Bush Back Again
I’ve learned that I need to cut this plant back or it gets sparse at the bottom and keeps growing at the top. It wasn’t getting enough water earlier this year but it looks much better since I caught that problem.

Tangerine 'Dancy' Fruiting: Close to Ripeness
It has set a nice crop and it looks like it won’t be too too long before they’re ready to pick. Hard to tell with citrus, though.

Snowberry 'Laevigatus' Flowering: Hummingbirds Like This, Too!
I usually see humming birds on my salvias, but I was stunned to see a hummingbird nursing one of these while I was showing a prospective housemate around. I wish I hadn’t been busy housemate-hunting because I would have dropped everything to grab the camera.

Party in the Back Painting the Garden, Part X
It’s been nearly a month since I had the physical ability and time (at the same time) to paint. Slowest. Painting. EVAH. Tonight I did 3/4 of the underpainting for the ‘Earli Autumn’ apricot, ‘Autumn Glo’ apricot and the low chill cherries. I also added more depth to the leaves of the Achillea millefolium, added the blooms and the leaf highlights.
