Carmen In The Garden's Raised Bed 1 garden

Created on Tuesday, 15 Jul 08

We built the beds in April ‘08 and planted seedlings the weekend of May 12th, a week before my Aunt Minerva stated was the best planting date and a week after I wanted to plant. We had to cover the beds for several days because of some persistent frost but the plants did survived. The irony is that if I’d planted when my aunt suggested it would have been three weeks before I’d have been able to plant because of the frost followed by two weeks of heavy rains. My seedlings seemed to be stunted for about a month; I was starting to get worried. But I guess they were busy growing underground because when the weather finally got warm they shot up like rockets and now they are huge. It’s been many years since I’d been in a position where I could tend a decent-sized garden and I’m very pleased with the results so far. Still have much to learn and remember, LOL.
