Squashman's squash patch garden

I live in the Arizona White mountain area.
I am trying to grow butternut squash.
I have about 8 plants growing now.
I started them from seeds.
Hopefully i will get some squash before it frosts here.
They grow very slow here,i think because the ground stays too cold.
If there is anyone else who is growing squash in this area?
Would you give me some tips ,please?
