Trisha's The Green Plastic Storage Box Pond garden
This was a pond project planned for this summer (2008) (at the request of the kids)that has sort of evolved without any of the big expensive outlay I thought it would need.
The ‘pond’ was an old, green Curver square plastic storage box found in the garage, previously used for lugging about hard core and flints picked out of the garden. The ‘water lily’ pond plant was bought from one of the kid’s school summer fetes and came with some handy duck weed hidden it. The stones are left over bits from the pergola coping. Water courtesy of the wet summer so far and occasional top-up from over-zealous kids and watering cans! We’ve added some oxegenating weed purchased for a pocket money sized 85p and found a small newt in with the weed for free… (A little worried about what to do with it once winter arrives in case the plastic cracks but sort that out nearer the time!)
