Cyde Swype's Frontyard garden
Finally posting my first garden here. It’s a “mel’s mix” of 30% vermiculite/perlite, 30% peat moss and 40% compost. It’s got a little native soil mixed in. It’s about 6 feet by 3 feet, raised about 8 inches and bounded by cynderblocks.on all sides. Little clover and other wild plants are growing in the cynderblock cavities but plan to plant strawberries and other small plants next year. Three lines of drip irrigation run down the length of the bed right now. Haven’t installed all the drippers. Once we reach fall and I rip out all the tomatoes, I’ll lay the drip lines out completely and install the remaining drippers.
The bed doesn’t get sun until about 11am due to a very very large ficus at the corner of the lot. Need to trim that way back at some point. Everything just grows a little slower and leans a bit more to catch the sunset.
