Oz Drdolittle's No-Dig garden
My brand new “No-Dig” garden.
Consists of:
- 18 (200mmx100mmx2.4m) Redgum sleepers;
- 12 Permapine posts (concreted 600mm down);
- 36 Galvanised 150mm Coach bolts;
- 8 bales of Lucerne/Rye;
- 1×50kg bag of Blood and Bone;
- 2 Cubic yards Mushroom Compost;
- 3 Cubic yards Organic Compost;
- 3 wheelbarrows of home compost;
- 10kg Dynamic Lifter (pellet chicken poo);
- 2kg Dolomite Lime;
- 1kg Sulphate of Potash;
- Eucalyptus Leaves/Bark mulch (lots!);
- 14 rows of drip irrigation (about every 30cm along the long side), each with 8 drippers @ 2Litres an hour = 224Litres an hour water usage.
All up, it cost just over $1000 (for all materials), and took approx a week and a half to build. (That included digging 50m trench/pipework to install the water tap).
Growing area is around 12sq metres.
Now waiting on seedlings to germinate (in seed raising mix at the moment) so I can fill it up!!!
