please live until spring Indoor made some cuttings

    Sunny 7°C / 45°F

Warm weather will be here soon, so I realized that I need to step up my production of coleus cuttings. I made 2 cuttings each on the trailing pink and ‘Cantigny Royale’ tonight. I had let all my small coleus pots get on the dry side, so everything got watered and hopefully it will all bounce back. The original ‘Cantigny Royale’ plant I think is under attack by some sort of insect and it not doing well. I wasn’t sure I was going to put it back outside, so it might just die, I don’t know. I made my new cuttings tonight off the plants that have been growing as cutting since the fall, figure those are healthier plants and if the parent plant has insects, I really don’t want to pass them along to others.

    coleus 'Cantigny Royale' just named!

    Sunny 13°C / 56°F

I was looking through a Park Seed catalog and what should I see but my purple coleus. It did not have a tag when I bought it, but now it has a name. Photo in the catalog looks just like this did when it was growing outside last summer. The original plant now moved indoors is still quite green.

please live until spring Indoor everything is doing so well

    Overcast 9°C / 48°F

I’m borderline amazed at how well all my indoor for the winter plants are doing. The coleus is really growing and the spider plant looks good. The fern has probably suffered the most but it is putting out a lot of new growth. I’ve always considered houseplants “fussy” and figured I’d have a hard time keeping everything going. So far, so good.

coleus 'Cantigny Royale' coleus looking good

    Sunny -2°C / 28°F

All three of my purple coleus, the big original plant and the two little ones are looking good, if green! The big original plant is very green while the two babies are more purple and are growing well.

coleus 'Cantigny Royale' not a good day for coleus

When I was cleaning up from outside today, I managed to knock the big pot of coleus on the ground. The plant seems okay and I took it outside and added some potting soil and watered it well.
