Plans for off the back porch. A southern exposure, near the house. Would like to do raised beds, but we’ll see how far we get this year. The underlying soil is clay.
the layout and plants are turning out to be slaves to my pea and tomato whims. Apparently, I want to eat a lot of tall viny plants. That mandates the gardens be pretty big, with lots of space for not tall-viny plants. So, um, we have a lot of lettuce.
Planned layout – three 5×2 sfg raised beds laid out as follows: (North and the garage wall are to the left)
for a total of:
5 peas @ 2 each = 10
10 tomatoes @ 1 each = 10
2 peppers @1 each = 2
2 nasturtium @ 1 each = 2
1 spinach @ 9 each = 9
3 mesclun @ 9 each = 27
3 lettuce ‘lollo rosso’ @ 4 each = 8
1 lettuce ‘green salad bowl’ @ 4 each = 8
2 lettuce ‘baby romaine’ @ 4 each = 8
