    Backyard Nice combination

    Sunny 31°C / 88°F 1 comment 1 thumbs up!

I am so pleased that it seems I’ve found the perfect spot for hosta ‘Fire and Ice’. This one can be tricky to grow, something I didn’t kow when I purchased or planted it, but it seems very happy where it is.

My Endless Summer #3 is in a pot while I try to figure out what to do with it long term and I try to scatter these pots out around the yard in a decorative fashion. This particular pot pretty much blocks the side “tunnel” between the shack and the side fence. I think it looks really nice where it is and this was just a lovely combination, with the late afternoon sun lighting up ‘Fire and Ice’.

Hydrangea 'Penny Mac' Blooming: Today's bloom photo

    Sunny 31°C / 88°F

Penny is in her prettiest, bluest phase right now, so I can’t help near daily photos. The rain we got did bend her stem down a bit, but it has rebounded. This bloom just keeping getting prettier!

Zinnia 'Peppermint Stick' Blooming: First bloom of the year

    Sunny 31°C / 88°F

It is here, the first zinnia bloom of the year! It is a super pretty pink and white bloom. There are several others that are partially open, so I should be seeing and photographing more soon.

Hydrangea 'Limelight' Blooming: blooms still opening

    Sunny 31°C / 88°F

Limelight’s blooms are still in the process of opening. I did notice today that they are starting to turn white. Since it is in so much sun, I didn’t think that the blooms would stay green for too long, but they are still a kind of greenish-white and very pretty.

Hydrangea 'Limelight' Blooming: blooms are part way open

    Sunny 24°C / 75°F

Limelight’s blooms are part way open and it is looking really good. The rain the last few days has got the branches a bit weighted down, but I think the overall form still looks really good. The blooms are about 1/2 of the way open now I think and they are definitely in the green phase right now. I’m very pleased with how this plant looks and also how well it has been handling the heat and drought, especially as it is newly planted.

Hydrangea 'Penny Mac' Blooming: more bloom photos

    Sunny 27°C / 81°F

Some more photos of my one ‘Penny Mac’ bloom. I keep hoping to find more.

Cleome Blooming: first plant is blooming

    Sunny 28°C / 82°F

When I first planted these out, I wasn’t sure how they would do. They seemed sort of droopy and wilty for a while, but I kept watering them and they perked up. I don’t think they get as much sun as they would like, but at least one plant is blooming now. They are much shorter than the blooming plants that Mrs Phillips has, but I think that could be due in part to being transplanted and not enough sun.
