Jane's Vegetable garden

I just moved to Littleton about a year ago, and the fenced in area I decided to make my veggie garden was a huge, overgrown mess of a hodgepodge of plants. I moved all the perennials out of the largest planting bed, making room to start my veggies. I still have about 80% more moving to do to reclaim the whole garden for veggies. So, my veggie garden plants that aren’t edible are not going to be in this garden for much longer. The planting beds surrounding my home all need the soil amended and it is really hard work moving mature perennials and working hard, rocky soil.

This spring I started all the plants from seed in a makeshift coldframe I put on my southwest facing balcony. I was surprised to find that the cool nights here enabled me to grow great tasting broccoli and salad greens all summer long.
