Carrots, A Novice Broccoli Mishap and Coriander
First of all, I’m excited because I just harvested some small carrots (they were too close together, so I had to pull some). They are quite tasty. :)
Also, I’ve had my first true novice gardener mishap. I’ve discovered that my broccoli plants have worms. This was only after accidentally leaving the worms in with the broccoli after harvesting it and boiling them alive (we almost ate the worms) :(. I think it may be too late to get rid of the worms as I haven’t been able to find any on the undersides of any leaves. However, I plan on getting some BT to deal with them come this fall/next year. Those silly worms won’t know what hit them.
Also, honeybees are making regular scheduled stops almost 24/7 to my coriander plant and I already have some fruit on it. If you look real closely, you might be able to see it. I plan on harvesting some of it for cooking…and harvesting some of it for planting next year. Maybe next year I’ll time my planting better so I can actually use the plant for its leaves, not fruit.
My strawberries are getting along very well. I am just waiting for the first couple of berries to ripen to see how they will look when I let them go this fall.
