Moving Day!
Today was the day that we moved house – my windowsill boxes alone ended up being an entire car load in themselves! We didn’t have any massive casualties – a little soil spillage here and there while we were struggling with the stairs in both places (yes, we had to make the move so much harder by moving into a loft flat didn’t we!) but otherwise all made it in one piece.
I thought I was growing so much stuff…until I started moving them out to the terrace. They are now huddled in one of the corners and I’m now suddenly hit with the massive possibilities I now have for the place. Yippee!

Yup, that is a car-full. Looks like you have loads of room to grow more plants at your new place … and a nice view too! Have fun planting!

That’s exciting, and I love your new terrace! What are you going to plant, now that you’ve got all that extra space?

Just think, if your previous landlady hadn’t been selling up, you would never of found that place – everything happens for a reason!

We recently moved my m-in law’s windowsill garden from her shop to her home and had the opposite problem—what fit easily and lushly into the sunny window of her dry-cleaning shop had to be shoe-horned into her house, and in fact I ended up with 9 plants that we just couldn’t fit in her house. (The total load filled the passenger seat and floor, back seat and floor and the trunk of my Saturn sedan). Wonderfully, the plants that I took (just by default—I simply stopped unloading them when we ran out of room), are thriving on my back porch. Just hope I can keep them going inside through the winter.
As far as I’m concerned moving plants is just a great excuse to buy some beautiful new pots for dividing!

Glad to hear that all went without mishap. The new terrace looks wonderful – all that space! Are you lucky enough to have it south facing? Looks like a fabulous place for barbecues too ;-)

I can imagine the decking filling up with pots and planters as your floral menagerie expands to fill the space. Well done with the move, I hope you settle in soon.

Thanks guys!
Annet: I have absolutely no idea yet on what I am going to use the space for, I’m definitely going to have to ask folians for their suggestions – it’s all a little bit daunting to tell you the truth (in a good way though)!
Nax: I’m really glad that it wasn’t the opposite case – I don’t think I would have been able to choose which plants to keep and which ones to give away.
Armorel: I think it’s north west facing – but it seems to get a lot of lovely sunshine over most of the day (when it isn’t raining!), so it’s all good :)
