graffiti Custard Candy=Eye Candy!!!

Thursday, 17 Jul 08 (posted about 1 months ago) Overcast 13°C / 55°F

• Check out the blooms on my daylily “Custard Candy” this week!!! What a show with the 8” blossoms in mouthwatering custard cream topped with a raspberry eyezone. Such a favorite I wish I could force them to bloom year round. I a blooming clump they stop traffic on my street

• The second daylily pictured is Prague Springs…..A brilliant chartreuse /yellow blend in the throat and yellow ribbing make this one of my most unusually colored cultivars

• Hyperion is a soft bright yellow that is a very old vintage variety with a sweet scent which is rare in hemerocallis. I would not want to be without this flower in summer

• This Cherry red is a show stopper and I wish I had the name for you . Lost the tag but the name will come back to me eventually. It is very sun resistant with little fading in the afternoon hot sun

• A massive stand of Trumpet lilies are in bloom this week. the fragrance in the evening is almost overwhelming at times it is so sweet. The giant moths go crazy for this one

More pix on the way of the garden beds!!!

Thank you so very much you guys!! I do adore my daylilies and wish I had more sun on my lot for more. They are such incredible flowers…a little messy with the dead heading but I can deal with it.

Thanks also about my pix. I was thinking yesterday that my first digital camera was purchased to take photos of my daylilies as reference for my watercolors. Who would have thought I would end up doing photography professionally. Gardening opens many many doors in our lifetimes (or garden gates)
