Day 174
This entry is about Kelly's Delicata Squash that
was previously in the 2008 Vegetable garden.
Fruiting: Delicata Squash
Finally, after seeing only male flowers all winter, a female flower finally made its appearance, got pollinated, and set fruit.
I will have at least one squash!

Delicata is one of my favorite squashes! I hope that this is only the start and that you get more female flowers!

Me too! I grew it last year and it was so delicious i knew I had to grow it again.
The only problem is – our frost date is in 52 dates, and because of the altitude I’m at (town is on the side of the mountain and we’re up it) I’m worried that it might even be a bit sooner.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you. I’ve never grown it, I used to get it from my CSA. I hope that you get one or two of them.

Me too! I’m betting I’ll get at least one, two, maybe not. Now if I can keep the slugs away from this one I’ll be good – I need to save seed this year otherwise I won’t be able to grow any next year!
