This year's failures will drive next year's SUCCESS!!
I put the tomatoes out too early!! With the late frost we suffered about a 95% loss.
Also, MORE MULCH needed overall! With the time constraints of working full-time and raising two kids, weeding is NOT an option. Next year the entire garden will have a THICK layer of straw mulch to keep weeds to a minimum.
Soil is depleted. Fall will be busy this year!! To ensure healthy soil, rich in organic materials and necessary nutrients for next years crops, the entire growing area will be covered and tilled with compost. If it is completed soon enough, a cover crop of cow peas is going in to add nitrogen.
Still hoping to get a small hoop house in for early spring planting and protection.
Not enough produce to can this year, looks like it is going to be another expensive winter.

I’m so bummed about your tomatoes. Let’s hope next year is better!
