jolantru Mollucan spinach.

For people who are interested, Daun Dewa (‘leaves of the Gods’) is also called Mollucan spinach or Sambung Nyawa. It is also called cholesterol spinach as it is touted to lower cholesterol and even high blood pressure/hypertension.

It is not a true spinach per se. Spinach belongs to the Amaranthaceae family whereas Daun Dewa is from the Asteraceae family. When cooked, it does taste like spinach (albeit more crisp).

All your plants sound amazing. I wish it were easier to find some of these varieties.

I wanted to grow temperate-clim vegetables but so far, I have had more luck with tropical ones. That’s why I wanted to start a tropical vegetable garden.

I am still reading up on tropical veggies and trying to remember what my grandparents had grown. :)
