the Occasional-Oasis Supply Association
Dropped in on gardenhistorygirl.blogspot.com; today’s blog contained a marvellous quote from Saki’s 1910 short story ‘The Occasional Gardener’. Briefly the duchess explains about the Occasional-Oasis Supply Association would transform your garden at a couple of hours notice into whatever setting you requested, eg for a lunch party, or entertaining a bishop or an acclaimed gardener. It will give me food for thought and amusement through this grey, rainy day. I often think about the idea of alternative designs for my garden but find it hard to get far with it. However perhaps the idea of transforming the space completely for a few fantastical hours might be fun and stimulating. I would like to have water in the garden and a summer house so in between making mugs today I will redesign my garden a la Saki’s O-OSA.
