Flowering: A FLOWER! A flower a flower a flower a flower! ALERT THE PRESS, THERE IS A FLOWER ON MY STRAWBERRY PLANT!
It’s the first day of spring, and I have the day off work (woohoo!), so I am pottering in my backyard, re-arranging plants that had to be shifted for the arborists, doing some a little bit of planting and a little bit of bed-building, nothing major.
I pick up the long, deep rectangular pot the strawberries live in, contemplate the new green foliage unfurling, smile and feel optimistic about spring and the promise of flowers to come (won’t it be nice once there are flowers on there?).
Then I look- and look again- and look closer, because there it is! A FLOWER! Tiny and perfect and sweet, and I think I nearly dropped the whole pot I was so excited. It’s the first day of spring, and my strawberries are in flower, and I couldn’t possibly be more excited about the months to come.
