melaco Harvesting: Squirrelly Treat

Monday, 01 Sep 08 (posted about 3 months ago) Sunny 28°C / 83°F

Someone is harvesting the seeds from my sunflowers, but it’s not me. It’s the neighborhood squirrels! They nibble the heads off then take them to another part of the garden to eat. Sometimes I don’t mind the little thieves. Other times-like when they knock over my metasequoia trees trying to climb them (remember everything on the roof is in pots)-I do, and I think perhaps it would be better not to plant sunflowers again. But I LOVE sunflowers. So I’ll probably go through this again next year. Both the squirrels and I keep coming back for more.
