soleil Clearing the ivy

Saturday, 06 Sep 08 (posted about 2 months ago) Sunny 22°C / 72°F

As I am getting more into gardening, I am running out of space in the backyard. I surveyed the whole place, and realized that the best spot – the south facing strip – was covered with ivy. Today I finally got my act together and pulled them out. I removed most of the leaves, but there are still some vines on the ground. Next week I will dig them out.

I plan to turn this into the perennial corner. I just started some peruvian goldenberries indoor, and will transplant them here.

That’s what happens when you let ivy alone for three years…

We have ivy taking over the (shady) garden of our rented house too. Apparently the tenants here don’t inform the owner until things get out of hand. We nicknamed the garden “The Jungle”.
