I split this into 4 pieces when I planted it.
Full sun to part shade
Height: 1-3", Spacing: 12"
Blooms: June-July
Low-growing with deeply cut, fernlike, deep purple black foliage. Tiny, greenish yellow flowers bloom in early summer. Low ground cover between stepping stones. Prefers fertile, sharply drained soil. Hardy to -20 F.
