Japanese Maple 'Orange Dream' leaning...
I noticed that ‘Orange Dream’ is leaning. I think it might be in part due to the fact that the planting box is not really on level ground, but the tree itself seems to be leaning some and I’m wondering if I am going to need to add a second stake. Tomorrow the plan is to try to move it to more level ground and see what happens.

Japanese Maple 'Orange Dream' trimmed back some scrub to make it more visible
I trimmed back some of the nasty Chinese privets that I’m going to cut down once the shack is fixed in order to give ‘Orange Dream’ some more space and make it show up a bit more. The whole area will look a lot better once all the junk is down, but for right now, that junk (most of it evergreen) is doing a decent job of hiding the really terrible looking shack.
Currrently ‘Orange Dream’ is a bit close to the Penny Maybe hydrangea.

Japanese Maple 'Orange Dream' Purchased: It fit in the car!
I saw this plant on Saturday when I went to Pike, but didn’t get it because I figured there was no way it would fit in my little car. I told my friend about it, and she said that I should get the plant and if it didn’t fit in my car, we could take it in her van and she would take care of it until we figured out how to get it to me up in South Carolina.
I had a hard time sleeping Saturday night for a number of reasons including a big thunderstorm, but I was also thinking about whether it would fit in my car or not and how I would get it home if it did not fit.
Sunday morning we went back to Pike with the van and my car and looked at ‘Orange Dream’. My friend thought it would fit in my car, I thought maybe. After triple checking the price, I bought it and got a staff member to help me load it. I warned him we were going to try to put it in a small car and he said no problem.
I put the back seats down and slid the front seat up as far as it would go, then tipped it forward and ‘Orange Dream’ fit in quite well! I was also able to pack in the hostas and other plants I bought around it. I was a bit worried about getting it back out of my car undamaged, but that went off perfectly as well.
I had to get a picture of it sitting next to my car, as I’m still a bit surprised that it fit inside. I love my little Scion xA, it just seems to be able to always fit what I need it to carry! Pike wrapped the base of the plant in plastic so none of the dirt would spill out during the trip sideways in the car. ‘Orange Dream’ is now at home in the shade bed underneath the pecan tree. Once I get the shack dealt with and the junk trees cut down, ‘Orange Dream’ will really have a great spot in the yard.
