Corn 'Honey 'N Pearl' Harvesting: Honey 'N Pearl Corn
After I noticed the corn plants were dying all of a sudden a few days ago, I decided it was time to harvest. Little did I know the dying down was not because of the onset of colder weather as I had originally thought, it was actually because of a wicked attack of the aphids.
So, the corn was a little stunted, the ears were under developed, but for my first time growing corn I think I did pretty good.
Lessons learned for next year:
1. They’re going in a sunnier location.
2. They’re getting planted out WAY earlier.
3. Watch for the goddamned aphids.
They were still pretty tasted even though they looked like franken-ears though.

Corn 'Honey 'N Pearl' Fruiting: A tiny ear
Imagine my surprise when I noticed a tiny ear of corn starting to show! And on the plant that was nearly destroyed by the next door neighbour’s dog as well! Huzzah, there will be corn!

Corn 'Honey 'N Pearl' Budding: Tasseling
Today I was pleased to see that my corn started tasseling over night. Considering they’re all about knee-high, and are an early variety, the tasseling at such a short height isn’t worrying me.

Corn 'Honey 'N Pearl' Growth update
A growth update. Most are now knee-high, right on track for growth rate.
Unfortunately yesterday the house next door lets their little puppy run all over our yard (not to mention they let him crap there too).
In this curfuffle, he trampled on of my corn plants, and it couldn’t be saved (it was completely snapped in half). Had a little talk with them about letting their dog run around like that, hopefully it won’t happen again.
We’re going to put up a make-shift fence as well to prevent the workers who are building the house from further trampling my plants.
