Judy's Native Stingless Bee Hive No:2
This hive has a tumultuous history. We had an old Indonesian church collection box in which we were storing all our shoe cleaning equipment. Approximately seven years ago there must have been a period of no shoe cleaning, which allowed the native bees to set up a nest in the box. One day Tom went to open it and found it was glued shut! The bees had sealed up the two coin slots on top and were using the keyhole as an entrance. Closer inspection of this keyhole revealed that several bees were guarding it.
Concerned about the possible toxicity of the shoe polishes, Tom decided to move the nest into a new hive he had built using information he found on the web.
