Black Locust planting Downed tree
One of the locusts came down in the windstorm this weekend. (I am amazed. AMAZED I tell you that nothing else did).
It wasn’t a huge deal in itself – it was one trunk off a multi-trunk tree – none of the trees there are particularly large and impressive in and of themselves – it’s more of a stand effect.
Anyway. The payoff was I got to count the rings.
30 years old exactly.
This dates those trees to around when the lots were subdivided – which makes sense. They do look awfully gnarled for only being 30 years old. I guess that’s what close confines and lack of maintenance will do to them.
(I like the gnarlyness)
