My Cos Lettuce taught me to beware of Fergus and unfenced plants. I planted these seeds into punnets and left them happily sunning on the balcony. Five minutes alone with Fergus and they were strewn about the front yard. I painstakingly replanted twenty or thirty tiny seedlings back into the punnets until they were large enough to move to the Leafy Greens vegetable bed. I gave some to a friend who’s trying his hand at hydroponic gardening. Fergus still looks at them longingly through the vegetable bed fence.
