spidra Spidra's Raspberry 'Else's Choice'
Rubus idaeus

It came from Flatland Flower Farm in Sebastopol, CA. The tag said: “Red raspberry growing 40 years for Else van Baldrick in Sebastopol. GREAT fruit June – October. Full sun, reg. water” Unfortunately, the tag didn’t say whether it bears on primocanes only or what. And so far I haven’t been smart enough to just figure it out. It gives fruit that is a good balance of sweet and acid. I actually prefer my raspberries just a bit more tart, but this variety has been such a dream to grow that I won’t quibble! It has borne fruit despite inconsistent watering, inconsistent pruning, etc. I’m still learning how to grow cane berries but Else’s Choice keeps powering past my amateur mistakes.
