Frilledlizard07's Banana 'Musa Basjoo'
Musa
The Mother Banana plant was a small plant, about 30cms tall, bought from a Garden Centre 5 years ago. When the new Tropical patch was designed it was planted surrounded by bamboos for shelter. Over the years the bananas produced a number of young around the Mother plant. The original plant with last years wonderful weather actually flowered, I was thrilled. They are all covered with drainage pipes & surrounded by straw & hessian to go through the winter. This spring the Mother plant was taken out,as once it has flowered it dies.
The young are now fully grown with their own young around them.
