    No Germination

    Posted about 6 hours ago | 10°C / 50°F

Nothing happened with these guys at all. Not a single seed germinated. They were in a mini hothouse, but maybe I do need a heated propagation tray?

    Basil 'Genovese' Transplanted
These seeds have done very well since they have been in their new home.. I have spread a little (composted) chook manure around the herb garden to maintain their lush new growth.. So they will need to be regularly picked to keep them bushy..

    Growing beautifully!
My Basil is healthy, and growing nicely, it is such a soothing feeling! Saw a few leaf miners, realized it is not that big of a problem as i thought it would be. usually picking out the infested leaves solves the problem. luckily, the problem is on a small scale! my leaf miners are soo tiny, so i...

    Ladybird and Composting
Spotted a ladybird amongst the basil today. As I was pulling out the leggiest basil plants, I came across a few fat caterpillars that must’ve been having a field day in the basil boxes… grr. Somehow having a ladybird around makes me feel assured that things will be okay in the bush....

    Posted about 13 days ago | Sunny 17°C / 63°F

The basil is holding steady for now. Because it was getting cramped in the smaller container I moved it today to the larger pot of basil.

I have 4 boxes of these mixed basil. In 2 of the boxes, I spaced out the plants a lot and they ended up sunburnt as summer approaches. I pulled out these sunburnt plants and laid them on the soil to compost. I’m actually rather disappointed with these basil plants. They grew very quickly...
