    Growing Slowly

    Growing Slowly
Does cilantro really grow this slowly, or is it just another victim of the “no soil” soil I have?

    Harvesting: Eaten

    Posted about 12 days ago | Sunny 3°C / 37°F

I put the overwhelming majority of the volunteer chives into tonight’s soup. There are quite a few still floating around, but they don’t have their true leaves yet. If they get them, it will be a miracle.

    Harvesting: First Pickings

    Posted about 26 days ago | Overcast 17°C / 63°F

    First Pickings
Picked a few leaves for 2 meals from the coriander plants. Just enough to garnish some briyani rice (leaves were overpowered by the spices) and ABC soup (mild enough to taste the leaves, but could use with more). After taking a shower, I could still smell the leaves on my fingers. Nice!

What are these brown spots on my coriander leaves?

What are these brown spots on my coriander leaves?
There are brown spots on a few of the coriander leaves (most of them are not affected though), and was wondering what they are and whether they are okay to be eaten? Thanks.

A few leaves on each plant

    Posted about 28 days ago | Overcast 16°C / 61°F

A few leaves on each plant
There are now a few leaves on each coriander plant. Think we will harvest some soon. Probably add them as a garnish / flavouring on top of chicken rice porridge, which is mild enough so that we can taste the coriander leaves. These plants are quite low maintenance. The pests hardly bother them...

Yes I am embarrassed – I thought I picked up some parsley and didn’t even smell something was up. However when I started planting the ‘parsley’ this evening I realised I got coriander instead – a reminder from the univers that I am still only a novice gardener. I wa...

    Dormant: no foliage

    Posted about 1 months ago | 7°C / 45°F

Once this went to seed it did not sprout any new plants this year. last year the fallen seeds produced new plants, but last year was especially warm and this year wasn’t. Oh well. The parsley did well so we used that instead in most cases, and plenty of seeds are in the ground so hopefull...
