I have stared at this mess for over a year. It is across the street (little more than an alley, it is so short) from my apartment, backing a commercial property, about 2’ wide and 100’ (or so) long. There are large containers on the other side of the dilapidated chain link fence along part of it,...This entry is about Verthandei's Covert garden.

This has just shot up. It looks like it is a gladioli, but I can’t be sure until it flowers. I thought it might have been one of the irises, which have been skulking this year, but the flower spike is more Edna Everage than anything else. I planted a load of bulbs ages back, I mean years and y...This entry is about Happibun's Bent Prunus garden.

The Olympics are over and the snails move in
Who would have thought that snails liked paper so much? The Olympic flag flying over the People’s Republic garden has been well and truly noshed by them. I’ve found snails nestling and chomping away on it every day so far. Perhaps I should leave paper around to draw the blighters out ...This entry is about Happibun's The People's Republic of China garden.

Just bought 9 cu ft of steer manure. Will be buying twice as much soil, though I will have to spend some time researching where to get it. The big department store only had soil that was pre-treated with fertilizer. The packaging all said the same thing – uniquely formulated for annuals, pe...This entry is about Vera Marie's Flowers under the Prune Tree garden.

One of the nine Jethro Tull Coreopsis was in bloom when I bought them. So, I snipped off a flower and checked it against a couple of the sweet peas to check color contrast. I’m thinking a purple or blue sweet pea would be best with this golden yellow flower. I’m just not sure yet whet...This entry is about Vera Marie's Front Porch Raised Bed garden.

Well, it’s been awhile since I updated this journal, between my vacation and my work partner’s vacation, there’s only been one of us in the office for a month. That resulted in 13 hours of overtime last week, as well as generally spending less time with my gardens over the past ...This entry is about Vera Marie's Kitchen Herb garden.

I admit that I completely love my herb bath and at the weekend I and my nearest and dearest wrapped it in modroc and plaster and set shells into it. When the weather dries some then I’m going to paint it up to really take on my sea theme. I can’t wait to mortar shells into the walls a...This entry is about Luvlymish's Seahorses Garden in the Sun and Shade garden.

We now have running water and electrical in place. The electrical hasn’t been hooked up yet. It’s out there though.

It’s nice to return and find that the slugs and snails have not eaten the tomatoes and strawberries that have ripened since you went away. I picked the most obvious ones, and actually had enough to make it worth while photographing. The passionfruit is turning yellow, which I assume mean...This entry is about Happibun's Littlest's scrabbling patch, Bunlett's pot, and my Mediterranean garden.

Our trek up to the North East of England involved a visit to the Beamish open air museum. The museum sells a nice line of reproduction enamelled advertising signs, and I bought a few to adorn my shed with. Some of these signs are just beautiful to look at, but I found that I had chosen the one...This entry is about Happibun's Shed and rooftop garden.
