ditch Garden

Because everyone in our subdivision has wells, the roads are sanded only – not salted. So every spring, there is a tonne of sand in the ditch. I’m not mowing over that! Slowly but surely, I add a few plants to the ditch. Also, I allow certain plants to set seed and then just toss the cut-back stems into the area. Eventually, it will be filled with flowers attractive to bees & butterflies and will never need mowing again!

An outdoor organic garden located in Meadowvale, Annapolis County, Canada, orientallily's ditch garden currently contains 4 plants.

This is a Butterfly garden that is known to be in USDA Hardiness Zone 6a. It has mainly Sand soil and receives Full Sun light.
